The ReBOWLution is coming!

FIERCE is having a Bowl-A-Thon! The ReBOWLution is coming! October 25th, 12-4pm at Harlem Lanes!

What is FIERCE?

FIERCE is a membership-based organization building the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City. We develop politically conscious leaders who are invested in improving ourselves and our communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media. FIERCE is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of social justice movement leaders who are dedicated to ending all forms of oppression.

FIERCE has prevented the displacement of LGBTQ youth of color from historically safe public spaces in the West Village amidst rapid development and discriminatory police practices. Our efforts have also ensured that more City resources are directed to the needs of homeless and low-income LGBTQ youth, who make up more than 40% of the homeless youth population in New York City. Through our newest campaign for an LGBTQ youth center on Pier 40, we have successfully helped to build a broad-based West Village community coalition that stopped the privatization of public land and resources.

What is the ReBOWLution?

FIERCE’s first annual bowl-a-thon is a youth organized grassroots fundraising event. As a community we will bring together allies, members, family, and friends to pledge; helping us reach our goal. Then everyone will be dressed up in crazy, sexy, fabulous costumes and listen to great music while they bowl, eat delicious food, and hang out with FIERCE!

The important details about your participation:

+ This isn't a amount per pin or score-based bowl-a-thon. Each team has to raise a minimum of $500 to participate in the BAT, but you can and should aim for more! (there's GRAND PRIZE for the team that raises the most money!)

+ You can have as many people on your team helping you fundraise to meet your team fundraising goal, but you can only have 5 people bowling on October 25th.

+ The 5 people you bring to the reBOWLution on October 25th should have a team costume with some kind of relationship to our reBOWLution theme. This isn't mandatory, but there is a GRAND PRIZE for the best team costume!

+ There are many ways to join the BAT. You can register to be a team captain, join an existing team, pledge to a team you want to support, make a general donation, or volunteer the day of! If you register as a team captain, you commit to helping your team reach your fundraising goal and coming to a team captain orientation in mid-September. Once you register, you get your own easy to set-up homepage for yourself AND for your team as a whole to track your progress and to solicit donations!

And to make it even a hotter event there will be stellar prizes, including grand prizes for Best Team Costumes and Most Team Money raised. There will also be surprise prize categories that will be announced the day of the Bowl-A-Thon!

However, the best part of this annual fundraiser is that all of your contributions will be supporting LGBTQ youth of color. It will support FIERCE’s Education for Liberation Project, which provides political education and organizing skills training for LGBTQ youth of color. Your support will also help us advance the Our 'S.P.O.T. (Safe Place for Orgazining Together)' campaign for a 24hr LGBTQ youth center on Pier 40. Lastly, it will sustain FIERCE as an organization commited to fighting for social justice for all people.
